Commercial Core Law C.E.
by Real Estate - Monday, October 5, 2009, 11:06 AM
Because we're the first to get it approved for credit in Kentucky, we've had a couple of questions about our new 6 Hour Online Commercial Core Law Courses so we thought we'd create a series of FAQ's to answer the most common questions.

Does this course count for my once every 4 years six hour Core Law requirement? Yes, this is a 900 level KREC course and gets automatically applied towards your once every four years core law requirement when we report your completion.

Who developed this online Commercial Core Law Course? The Kentucky Real Estate Commission (KREC) contracted with a course designer who developed the entire 6 hour online commercial course. We were then given the content which we (for the best delivery possible) converted/inputted and placed in our advanced learning management system so we could get final approval from ARELLO and the KREC. (Which we did receive)

Is this really approved for Core Law Credit? I thought you had to go to a classroom class. This is the first ever online course where Core Law Credit can be achieved by taking a class entirely online. Until this particular course was approved, every core law course was delivered in a classroom setting.

Do I have to be a commercial agent to take this commercial core law course? In Kentucky there's only one type of license so commercial agents are not separated out from residential licensees, but because of the complexity of the material, the KREC suggests you have a background in commercial real estate or the course might seem much harder than normal C.E. courses, but there are no prerequisites for any of our current courses.

Can I get partial credit? I only need 3 hours. No. This commercial law course is a 6 hour course so you must complete the entire course to receive credit for the full six hours. Partial credit can't be given.

Does the class have a final exam? Yes. Per KREC guidelines, every approved online C.E. course has a final exam which you must score 75% or higher on to receive a completion certificate. You are allowed to review your first attempt and then take the exam a second time although questions will not be identical as they are drawn from a pool of questions. If you don't pass on the second attempt, you must complete the course material again before a third retake would be allowed.
